OffShoot pricing explained: what Hedge's offload software costs now

August 4, 2026

If you used Hedge a few years ago and just looked at OffShoot’s price, you probably did a double take. Here’s what changed and what it costs now, laid out plainly.

From Hedge to OffShoot

Hedge — the simple, well-loved offload app — rebranded to OffShoot in 2024, and the pricing changed substantially. The old Hedge licence was around $39. OffShoot today is $169, with a Pro tier at $249. That jump is why a lot of DITs went looking for alternatives.

What’s in each tier

  • OffShoot ($169): the core offload — copy to multiple destinations, checksum verification, stop-and-resume, presets and filters.
  • OffShoot Pro ($249): adds the things many productions actually need — including ASC MHL, an ingest browser, S3 cloud transfer, and shared licensing.

Worth knowing: ASC MHL sits in the $249 Pro tier. If your workflow needs MHL — and a lot do — the real OffShoot price for you is $249, not $169. Reports, meanwhile, come from a separate Hedge app rather than OffShoot itself.

How it compares

  • ShotPut Pro — $169, similar core plus PDF reports.
  • Silverstack — $399–599/year subscription, a full DIT station.
  • Olycen$129 once, two Macs, with ASC MHL, multiple checksums (xxHash, MD5, SHA-256, C4) and PDF/CSV/ALE reports included, not behind a Pro tier. (Full comparison.)

Is OffShoot worth it?

If you want the most battle-tested, simplest pure offload and the price isn’t a sticking point, OffShoot earned its reputation and it’s a safe choice. If the $169–249 with MHL gated behind Pro is exactly what sent you looking, that gap is the reason Olycen exists — the same core job, MHL and reports included, one-time and under the OffShoot Standard price.
